Mission Statement St. Theresa’s Youth Ministry (STYM) is designed to encourage young Catholics to learn about all aspects of service and ministry and give them the opportunity not only to grow in their faith, but to have fun at the same time and become the young men and women God created each one to be.
The foundation of this ministry is creating an environment where every young person - no matter their past, their hair color, or their level of faith - can thrive and grow.
This is most specifically carried out through the Core team, a team of adults who have responded to a call to minister to middle school teens. The Core Team actively seeks to love and support young people at this challenging stage of life by building healthy relationships through interaction at youth events, small group discussions, and also through outreach.
We strive to strengthen and encourage the youth of St. Theresa’s Community and their families by empowering them to live as Disciples of Jesus Christ. Combine fun and energy of a youth group with the teaching and formation of Religious Education through Music, Food, Drama, Retreats, Liturgies, Trips, Leadership Training, Socials, Games, and Service Projects.
Open to all middle school age students, Catholic or non-Catholic, rich or poor, cool or not-so-cool. This is not a club, but a community where all are loved as they are, and called to grow in their faith in Jesus.
"What is needed today is a church which knows how to respond to the expectations of young people. Jesus wants to enter into dialogue with them and, through his body, which is the church, to propose the possibility of a choice, which will require a commitment of their lives. As Jesus with the disciples of Emmaus, so the church must become the traveling companion of young people...”
